Detour

I have taken a slight detour on my entrepreneurial path.

I have been developing a web platform, similar to WordPress, part-time for almost ten years now. I first came up with the idea when I had to create a web site for a client because I couldn’t find a ready-made solution at that time to provide the functionality he required.
It is a long, slow and difficult process, with many hours alone in front of my computer, but I love the challenge.

A couple of months ago, I finally decided that I have had enough of my day job, and it’s time for a change in direction. I set a goal to leave my current employer at the beginning of October this year (2019), and I thought that my web platform was the key to bringing this goal to fruition. I had 7 months to make this happen. In the meantime I still have to work over fifty hours a week, and spend quality time with my family, plus do chores around the house, and… well life continues. Did I say programming was a long, slow process?

I was watching some inspirational videos on Youtube, ala Tony Robbins, when an add appeared. For some reason, I didn’t click the skip button, and watched it to the end. Well, to be completely honest with you, the add had appeared a few times previously, and I had actually clicked the skip button then!
I can’t remember the exact details now, but there were a young couple, on a sandy beach, telling me that I could have the lifestyle and success that I wanted. That video piqued my interest, so I signed up to watch some more videos, and that eventually led me to the course that I am taking now.
I have always believed and experienced first-hand that when I make a decision to take a certain path, whatever I require to move forward appears in my life. It’s as if the universe is telling me I am on the right track. That video appeared at the right time to lead me in the direction I need to go.

My long-term vision is to create my web platform and my short-term goal will set me on the path and give me the time to achieve it. I had been trying to use the product of my vision to achieve my short-term goal. I was on the wrong path.

I have now taken a small detour, but it is not a complete change of direction. By applying the education I am now receiving, I will achieve my short-term goals, and ultimately, my long term vision. I will create the lifestyle and success that I dream about.
